New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): Sources say that former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was instrumental in securing the hosting of the IPL 2025 Playoff 1 and Eliminator matches at the new PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.

On Tuesday, the locations for the playoff matches of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League were revealed. As per the updated timetable, Qualifier 1 will take place in New Chandigarh on May 29, with the top two teams competing against each other. This will be succeeded by an intriguing Eliminator match on May 30.

After the announcement, insiders disclosed that "Harbhajan Singh had a significant impact on securing both the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches for Chandigarh."

In addition to the new PCA Stadium, Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium—the biggest cricket arena globally—will host an exhilarating Qualifier 2 on June 1 and the spectacular finale of the 18th season of this lucrative tournament on June 3.

The Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings have secured their places in the IPL playoffs. Meanwhile, both Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are vigorously competing for the final playoff berth.

DC and MI are scheduled to face each other at the Wankhede Stadium, but their crucial match might be affected by rainfall as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for Mumbai over the next four days starting from Tuesday evening.

As reported by ESPNcricinfo, rain started hitting Mumbai at approximately 8 pm, which led to DC wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul’s training session being prematurely ended. At this point, the Mumbai Indians had finished theirs. Throughout much of the night, the city faced intense rainfall with thick clouds overshadowing the Wankhede Stadium.

If the match ends up being canceled, each team will receive one point, and the outcome will depend entirely on their last group stage game. On May 26, Mumbai will play against PBKS at their home arena, whereas DC will face Punjab at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on May 24. (ANI)
